Project Trust

Katie Smith is a young local woman destined for a very big adventure!  She has been selected by Project Trust to work in social care with primary school aged children and so is embarking on a year long trip to a developing part of India where she will be teaching young people with disabilities.

Project Trust is a non-profit organisation based on the Hebridean Isle of Coll that trains and supports school leavers, age 17-19, to volunteer in overseas countries. Every year they select and send volunteers to Africa, Asia and Latin America to take part in a variety of different placements including teaching, social care and outward bound projects.

Katie visited the Isle of Coll where she endured a gruelling selection week being put through her paces in order to prove she had what it takes for such an adventure.  Following successful selection she now to raise sufficient funds to cover her expenses and make the trip possible.

Vicki met up with Katie recently to hear about her plans, and was pleased to donate towards her fundraising efforts. The JFS team wish Katie the very best and look forward to hearing about her work in India.
