Funeral Costs

We, at John Fraser & Son, do not charge extra for:

  • Meeting with clients and families outwith normal office hours
  • Collection and delivery of valuables and clothing locally
  • Viewing of deceased
  • Website and Facebook announcement of funeral details
  • Recording of the funeral service from our Inverness funeral home
  • Customized cortege routes on day of funeral
  • Collection and delivery of ashes locally
  • Grave marker for burial

Standardised Price List

All funeral directors are legally required to publish this Price List for a standardised set of products and services.

Attended Funeral (funeral director’s charges only)

This is a funeral where family and friends have a ceremony, event or service for the deceased person at the same time as they attend their burial or cremation.

Taking care of all necessary legal and administrative arrangements and offering you the choice of a meeting at either of our Funeral Homes in Inverness or Dingwall; your own home or online/ by telephone, with follow up meetings as required.

Conveyance of the deceased from the place of death into our care at either of our
Funeral Homes in Inverness or Dingwall.

Within 30 running miles of our funeral homes

Care of the deceased, prior to the funeral in appropriate facilities. The deceased person will rest at either of our Funeral Homes in Inverness or Dingwall.

Providing a suitable coffin – this will be made from a foil oak veneer effect.

Viewing of the deceased for family and friends, when requested.

At a date and time you agree with the funeral director, taking the deceased directly to the agreed cemetery or crematorium in our Mercedes E Class hearse or other appropriate vehicle.

Unattended Funeral

This is a funeral where family and friends may choose to have a ceremony, event or service for the deceased, but they do not attend the burial or cremation itself. Unattended funerals must be paid in full prior to the funeral date.

Fees you must pay

The burial fee – (for an Attended or Unattended burial funeral).

This is the fee charged for digging and closing a new grave or re-opening and closing an existing grave.

For a new grave, you will also need to purchase the lair.

The cremation fee – (for an Attended cremation).

This is the typical cost of a cremation for residents in this local area.

(In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you will usually need to pay doctors’ fees as well. This is the charge for two doctors to sign the Medical Certificates for Cremation.)

Deposit

We reserve the right to request a deposit prior to the funeral date being confirmed.

Repatriation of the deceased will be pre-paid in full at the Company’s discretion.

Direct burial or cremation requires payment in full prior to the funeral date being confirmed.

Payment

The funeral invoice will be issued 7-10 days after the funeral has taken place and is due within 21 days of invoice (unless otherwise by prior agreement).

If the invoice remains unpaid beyond the due date, we reserve the right to charge interest on the overdue payment at the rate of 4% per annum, above the base lending rate of The Bank of England. The interest shall accrue on a daily basis from the due date until the date of actual payment of the overdue amount. We reserve the right to recover legal and debt collection fees should you breach these terms of payment.
