John Fraser & Son
We are looking for a well-organised, efficient, and empathetic person with excellent communication and office skills to join our tight-knit, hard-working team as a Funeral Administrator.
This is a full-time, office-based position, working between our funeral homes in Inverness and Dingwall.
The role
No two working days will be the same. As one of the first points of contact for bereaved families, this requires utmost care and sensitivity, so excellent interpersonal and communication skills are vital.
Ours is a busy office environment, with a demand for all paperwork and information to be filed and communicated accurately and efficiently. You’ll be dealing with and responding to a huge number of calls, emails, and letters, and scheduling multiple diaries, so your admin and organisational skills need to be top-notch.
The role also involves cash-handling, liaising with celebrants, preparing Orders of Service, and matching family photographs to music to be played during funerals.
Over time, you’ll also be trained to advise clients on pre-paid funeral plans and memorials.
We’ll need you to be competent and literate in MS Office packages, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook, and a full valid UK driver’s license is essential.
Given the nature of our business, you’ll be someone who has an ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion, and it’ll be in your nature to show respect, patience, and maintain empathy when dealing with the recently bereaved.
The benefits
In exchange for 40 hours of your time every week (Monday - Friday), you’ll get to join our close-knit, friendly, and hard-working team. We take enormous pride in the work we do and gain a great deal of satisfaction from knowing a family’s wishes have been carried out, often under time-pressured and difficult circumstances. There is a tangible sense of camaraderie amongst our team members, with over half of our full-time employees having been with us for over a decade. We all think it’s a great place to work!
In addition to a competitive salary (starting from £29,000, depending on experience) you’ll get a company pension and full-uniform, and there’s free on-site parking.
