RNLI – Kessock to Monte Carlo... or bust!

Anyone who knows our funeral assistant Alan McDiarmid, will know that for 30 years he has been a passionate and dedicated member of the RNLI Kessock Lifeboat Crew.
Alan’s service for the charity has seen him on callouts in the Beauly and Moray Firths in all conditions, but it has never taken him as far away as Monte Carlo – at least, not until now…
Alan is part of a four-strong team who will be swapping their lifeboat for an old banger, as four of the RNLI Kessock lifeboat team drive an old BMW Estate on a 3000-mile round trip from Kessock to Monte Carlo, via London and Turin, to raise £10,000 for the charity, and mark its 30 years serving the people of our local communities.
We are proud to be a co-sponsor of the trip, and wish Alan and his crewmates well, although – rather them than us!
In the run up to their departure on 12th July, they’ve been decorating the 2002 BMW to resemble their Atlantic 85 Lifeboat, including a self-righting bag, navigation lights, radar, VHF Comms and – most importantly (although we have no idea why) a very loud foghorn!
The crew hope – assuming the car holds up – to cover the 3008miles in just six days. We’ll be following their progress and updating you from time to time on our Facebook page.
Alan and his crewmates are covering all the vehicle costs and their own accommodation and food costs themselves, meaning every penny raised will go to improving facilities at the Kessock Lifeboat Station.
If you'd like to add a few pounds to their coffers, the link to donate can be found here - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/alanmcdiarmid
Good luck Alan – we’ll be happy to welcome you back to work for a rest!
